The careful reader will note that this document not only does not allow for the searching of data by admins with CheckUser and its list of those purposes data will be publicised does not include unveiling sockpuppets. As so often, Wikipedia has conflicting policies, allowing the empowered to do whatever they want without hindrance.

For instance, given the limited number of people with access to CheckUser, it can be used, Inquisition-style, to ban users who do things like recreate articles that were deleted out of process. Such claims cannot easily be verified by anyone other than the above cabal (ie. people who think Jimbo's farts smell of flowers) and must be taken on faith. Was this user's status as a sockpuppet really confirmed by CheckUser? Only The Grand Inquisitor and his cronies know for sure. BURN THE WITCH! BURN THE HERETICS!
